Louise Hufton has been a key driver of the establishment and ongoing operation of HMLG.  Louise was HMLG coordinator from its inception until 2018.  For over two decades she has driven fundamental, cultural and philosophical change throughout the Jugiong Creek Catchment. Louise takes a proactive, holistic approach to community initiatives, and her remarkable commitment to HMLG has successfully sourced funds and researched, implemented and managed many projects to fruition.  She is a strong advocate for close working relationships between landholders and all organisations to ensure successful uptake and awareness of the importance of natural resource management for sustainable productivity.  Louise has received a number of awards including the 2011 Murrumbidgee Catchment Management Authority Staff Award, 2012 Burrunjuck Local Woman of the Year and 2014 Landcare Australia Landcare Coordinator Award. She also established the local, highly successful Ladies on the Land group.

Landcare Award Winners

This will be awarded to an individual farm owner or farm manager whose achievements, in implementing farm management practices within a commercial primary production system or contribution to local landcare are judged to be a significant contribution to Landcare.

 

The Award is held annually in conjunction with the Murrumburrah Harden Show Society.
